From my first consultation with Mr Shukla, I was very impressed with his bedside manner, his friendly approach and the clarity of his communication. He took his time to explain to me in a very clear and understandable manner all the aspects and risks of the procedures regarding my hip replacement. Also, I appreciated his concerns on making sure that all necessary post operative care was in place before leaving the hospital.

I cannot fault the treatment I received from start to finish. I was initially referred by my GP, to Mr Shukla, who is based at The Woodlands Hospital, Kettering, following an x-ray, which showed excessive wear to my left hip, caused by Osteo Arthritis. I contacted Woodlands Hospital shortly afterwards, and within two days, was given an appointment to see Mr Shukla, within a very short period of time. I visited Mr Shukla at Woodlands Hospital. I found him to be extremely professional and helpful, explaining in detail the procedure of fitting an artificial left hip. I was initially very worried about having such an operation, but was put completely at my ease by Mr Shukla. I was fully informed about the pros and cons of the operation. A date for my operation was set for approximately one month later, which I thought was fantastic. I had the operation on 12th November 2019, spending 3 nights in hospital. The treatment I received from Mr Shukla and his wonderful staff, can only be classed as second to none. I have followed all the expert advice I was given by Mr Shukla and his staff, physios, nurses etc. which I am certain has aided my full recovery. I have not had a major operation in my life before. A potentially very stressful experience for most people, including myself, was made so much easier by everyone, from Mr Shukla downwards. Thank you all.

I have recently had 2 operations with Mr Shukla, a rotator cuff repair and a full hip replacement. From the outset I found Mr Shukla to be extremely professional and very helpful in explaining to me exactly what the procedures would entail and this in turn put me at ease. I have had 2 total knee replacements under the care of Mr. Shukla. In both cases the level of care has been exemplary - the operation was well explained and the ops went well with no complications. Mr Shuklas' post op care has been first class, and the last follow up visit re assured me that all was well and recovery well on course.

Mr Shukla has replaced both my arthritic hips and I can not be any more complementary of his skill, care and expertise. He explains things at every stage of my treatment and has a very caring and understanding manner.

I have been fortunate to be treated by Mr Shukla on several occasions for shoulder treatment. I say fortunate because as much as medical treatment can be daunting, Mr Shukla immediately puts you at ease, his professionalism and kindness are always very reassuring. What a wonderful man and Doctor. From the moment I met him I knew I was in the best hands, and I was right! My operation went as smoothly as possible. Considering my cartilage was as severe a tear as he had seen, I was walking again within a week. Thank you so much. Also, the staff at Woodland hospital were great.

I'm thankful for having Mr Shukla as my consultant because right from the initial consultation, I felt my shoulder problems were in the right hands to be solved. He listened to my woes of dealing with this recurring problem, which had been plaguing me over the last 6+ years. Where the previous doctors/consultants had looked at treating the symptom and not looking at a long term plan, I felt heard (finally) by him as he described the next steps to look at what exactly was happening. My solution was keyhole surgery, which was sorted out quickly and Mr Shukla talked me through what this would entail. After surgery, he came explained what was found/done. His team made sure my partner was aware of what to do for the after care and wrote down instructions for me to follow, once the anaesthetic/nerve block had worn off. If anyone is experiencing shoulder problems, I would definitely recommend they go to see/be referred to Mr Shukla for treatment.

Mr Shukla is fantastic. He has performed four operations for me, both hips and both knees. Each time he has been incredible in every way. He is pleasant, patient, reassuring , efficient and skilful. He filled me with complete confidence in his ability and the fact that I would see so much benefit from every procedure. I was in so much pain before my last hip operation that I could barely walk and trying to sleep was a nightmare, he has cured all that. I cannot Praise or thank Mr Shukla enough, I tell everyone he has rebuilt me and that is how I genuinely feel. I must also give thanks to the excellent nursing and physio therapy staff who cared for me whilst I was in the Woodland Hospital and also the reception staff who are always very pleasant.

Mr Shukla has a engaging relaxed manner, he listens attentively and quickly processes this information and identifies your main concerns and offers a detailed plan of care taking into account existing disabilities and clearly explains an approximate timeline. He makes you feel cared for and more importantly listened to. Mr Shukla displays professionalism and respect for his patient and their relatives at all times. Both my husband(patient) and myself were given clear explanations about his condition with MRI and post op X-rays been explained in a clear and understandable way and we were encouraged to ask questions. Pre Op Mr Shukla’s relaxed manner puts you at ease to his post op visit updating us clearly with how things went.His team also give a high level of care and worked with professionalism. The smooth way he ensured everything was in place prior to discharge from pain relief, physiotherapy and post op appointment was reassuring. He gave my husband back his life, which had been blighted by excruciating pain and loss of mobility. We cannot praise him highly enough, he will always be our choice of Orthopaedic Consultant both now and in the future.

Everything was explained to me from my initial consultation, in hospital and post op. If I need to see an orthopaedic surgeon in the future I would request that my referral was made to Mr Shukla. I am now pain free and feel like I have my life back.

I have had three joint replacements in the last two years by Mr Shukla. He has been very professional and caring and left me with very neat scars.I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone needing this type of operation and recommend Woodlands hospital for their professional care.
